Bashir Ahmad Abdul Majid
Y.Bhg Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad Abdul Majid (born 20 June 1949) served as Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad's (MAHB) Managing Director for 11 years from June 2003 till May 2014.[1] He further served another 2 years as Advisor to its Board of Directors. Bashir Ahmad oversaw the implementation of the six strategic pillars that transformed MAHB from a Government-linked entity to a publicly-listed company. Tan Sri Bashir also negotiated the restructuring exercise of MAHB in 2009, and the development and opening of KL International Airport's second terminal klia2 in 2014.[2][3]
Bashir Ahmad was succeeded by Y.Bhg Datuk Badlisham Ghazali in June 2014.[4] Prior to joining MAHB, Bashir Ahmad served as an advisor to Malaysia's Ministry of Transport for 2 years from November 2001 to June 2003.[5] Bashir Ahmad was also previously with Malaysia Airlines for 29 years holding various positions which include Director of Corporate Planning, Commercial Director, Senior Vice-President Commercial, and Executive Vice-President Airline.[6]
Honours[edit]
Bashir Ahmad was awarded the Order of Loyalty to the Crown of Malaysia in 2009 which carries the title of Y.Bhg Tan Sri. He was also previously conferred a state title Y.Bhg Dato' Seri.
Airports Council International[edit]
As Managing Director of Malaysia Airports, Bashir Ahmad was elected to the board of Airport Council International's (ACI) Asia-Pacific Region in Hong Kong during the 16th Regional Assembly in 2006. He later went on to serve as the Regional President for two 2 year terms and is currently serving as the Immediate Past President.[7]
Prior and during his elevation to Regional President, Bashir was also elected to ACI World's Board of Directors for two terms.
