Bashir Muhammad Fagge mni is a Nigerian professor of Animal Science and a public official. He serves as the Special Adviser on Policy and Monitoring to the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin[1]. Fagge was previously the Provost of the Federal College of Education Technical Bichi[2] (FCET Bichi) from 2015 to 2024. In December 2025, he was conferred with the traditional title of Marafan Garin Gwagwarwa in Kano.
Early Life and Education
Bashir Muhammad Fagge was born in Kano State, Nigeria. He attended Bayero University Kano (BUK), where he earned a Bachelor of Agriculture (B.Agric) degree. He later obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Animal Science from the same institution. His academic research focused on livestock production and management.
Fagge is an alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos. He completed the Senior Executive Course and was conferred with the post-nominal letters mni.
Academic Career
Fagge began his career at Bayero University Kano (BUK), where he is a Professor in the Faculty of Agriculture.[3] His academic work is centered on livestock research and animal science.
In 2015, the Federal Government of Nigeria appointed him as the Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi (FCET Bichi). He served two terms in this position, which concluded in early 2024. Following his tenure as provost, he was appointed as a Consultant to the House of Representatives Committee on Federal Colleges of Education.
Political and Advisory Roles
In July 2024, the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I Jibrin appointed Fagge as his Special Adviser on Policy and Monitoring[4]. In this role, he assists in coordinating policy initiatives and monitoring developmental projects.
Fagge is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He serves as the convener of the Tinubu/Barau Progressive Minds Coalition, a political group within the party. His name has also been featured in public discussions regarding administrative roles in the Nigerian agricultural sector, specifically the Ministry of Livestock Development.
Chieftaincy and Community Service
In December 2025, Fagge was turbaned as the Marafan Garin Gwagwarwa in Kano State. The title was conferred in recognition of his service to his community and his background in education. He is also involved in the mentorship of students and young academics within the region.
