Bassam Chebaro (Arabic: بسام شبارو), born in January 15, 1943 is a Lebanese business manager and publisher. He graduated from the American University of Beirut in 1963. He has been in the publishing industry since 1973. He is the founder of Arab Scientific Publishing, Inc. along with other initiatives in the publishing industry in the Arab world[1].
Biography[edit]
Bassam Chebaro was born in January 15th, 1943 in Beirut. He studied in the International College (IC) in Lebanon, and graduated from the American University of Beirut in 1963 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.[2] Chebaro is the founder and the owner of many institutions in the publishing industry. He founded “Al Mutawast” Printing Press (مطبعة المتوسط) in 1973, and in 1979 he founded Abjad Graphics Centre. In 1987 he founded Arab Scientific Publishing, Inc[3]. In 1992 he founded the Centre for Arabization and programming center for translating international publications to Arabic. In 1991, he co-founded with his brothers “Gift Graphics Lebanon, L. L.C”. In the late 90’s, he founded the e-commerce website “Neel wa Furat”. In 2008, he co-founded with his brother “thaqafa” Publishing and Distribution (دار ثقافة للنشر والتوزيع), an Emirati company that aims to provide services to authors. 1n 2013, Chebaro opened a branch of Arab Scientific Publishing, Inc. in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and invested in a translation sister company, based in Beijing, China, called “Ma’moon” (مأمون) that specialized in translating from Chinese to Arabic[4].

- The Special Book Award of China[5], for his contribution in promoting and supporting cultural exchange between China and the Arab World, 2020[6].
- Honored by the Minister of Culture, Abbas Mortada[7], 2021.
