Batgirl is a planned American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. It is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and is intended to be an installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is set to release on HBO Max.

Production[edit]

Development[edit]

In March 2017, Joss Whedon was hired to write, direct and produce a film centered around Barbara Gordon / Batgirl.[1] Whedon was to begin production on the film in 2018,[2] but stepped down in February.[3] In April, after impressing Warner Bros. with her work on Birds of Prey, Christina Hodson was hired as screenwriter for Batgirl.[4][5] In May 2021, it was announced that Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah would serve as the film's directors, with the movie now releasing on HBO Max.[6]
