Battalen[edit]
Battalen is a series of arcade game based online Shockwave Flash shooters released in 2008.
It is a multiple-mission shooter with distinct & variable modes of play. It also uses synthesized speech & sound effects. The game series consists of Battalen Arena and two sequels.
Gameplay[edit]
The game is a two-dimensional type multidirectional shooter game in which the player controls spaceships with laser cannon by moving it horizontally across the bottom of the screen and firing at aliens & bases.
The aim is to defeat rows of alien bases & aliens that are stationary or move back and forth across the screen as the players advances through the arena. The player destroys an alien or base, and earns points by shooting it with the laser cannon. As more aliens & bases are defeated, the aliens' movement and the game's music tempo speeds up. Defeating the aliens brings another wave that is more difficult, a loop which can continue till the player's destroys all the aliens or his spaceship is destroyed.
The player has to navigate their way way through the arena among waves of alien opponents to the challenger which is the spaceship Exor, and engage in a fight to death. The controls can move the spaceship left, right, up and down around in a 360 degree environment.
The ship can fire multiple laser shots, which travels around the screen & destroys enemy ships & obstacles. Players are given the ability to fire projectiles at their own discretion to attack moving enemies. The game can be controlled with the PC mouse & keyboard.

Battalen consists of separate missions throughout the playing arena, each with its own patterns of enemies in each area. The central goal of each mission is to destroy all enemies in that wave, which takes the player to the next mission.
Successfully completing all five missions will increase the player's rank & continues on a higher difficulty level. The game continues until the player loses all their lives. The player can advance through higher difficulty levels at each rank.
The aliens attempt to destroy the cannon by firing at it while they approach from various sides the screen. If they destroy the player's spaceship Exor, the alien invasion is successful and the game ends.
The ship can also move across the top of the screen and award bonus points if more aliens are destroyed. The laser cannon is partially protected by several defensive bunkers that are gradually destroyed by projectiles from the aliens and player.
