Baumstam is a German psychedelic rock band from Witten. The band was organized in 1972 by Gerd Stracke, Ulrich Klawitter, Michael Lobbe and Michael Willecke. In 1974, Volker Wobbe from Dortmund joined the band as a bass player, replacing Willecke. In 1977 the band dissolved, reuniting in 2004.[1][2]

History

Foundation and early years

Baumstam was founded in 1972 by Gerdi Stracke (drums), Ulrich Klawitter (vocals, guitar), Bich Lobbe (guitar), and Michael Willecke (bass). In 1974, Volker Wobbe from Dortmund joined the band as a bass player, replacing Willecke.[1] During their time, the band toured throughout Germany, playing at both indoor and outdoor venues.[1] The pair of heavy fuzz guitar reflected the psychedelic rock sonic trend of the 1960s. In 1975 the band produced On Tour LP. In 1977, the band broke up over disagreements about their contract with Deutschen Grammophon.[1]

Reincarnation

At the beginning of 2004, the Baumstam reunited with a reissue of On Tour with Adrian Klawitter, a son of Ulrich Klawitter, taking the place of Michael Lobbe. In January 2005 the band released Dreams of Yesterday.[1]
