From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Beaches Outreach Project is a non-profit organisation based in Sydney, Australia, assisting and providing outreach support for teens and young adults. The organisation operates in and around the Eastern Suburbs and offers support, information, referrals and advocacy. The organisation's Friday night outreach program provides food and drink, a safe drive home as well as help for young people involved in a critical incident.[1]

The organisation[edit]

The organization was founded in 1978[2] and has received a Certificate of Commemoration from Waverley Council as part of the council's “local hero awards.”[3]

The BOP van drives each Friday night providing free transport to teens and young adults who need a safe ride home. According to the service, the bus operates until 4:00AM in helping the young people get home safely.[4] The organization also refers clients with complex issues to legal services specializing in legal representation for youth.[5]

The organisation's Coordinator for over a decade was Sue Underwood. The organization received additional support from local businesses including the Coogee Bay Hotel and the Coogee Lions Club.[4][6]
