Beacon is a deep tech startup that provides freight forwarding and trade finance services, mainly to businesses.[1][2][3] It aims to use supply chain engineering tools such as software, artificial intelligence, and operations research to increase transparency, speed, flexibility and reliability, while reducing costs and emissions.[1][2]
History[edit]
Beacon is a trading name for Global Technology Holdings Ltd., and was founded in 2018 by former Uber executives Fraser Robinson and Dmitri Izmailov.[4][1][5][6][7] It has received funding from ex-CEO of Google Eric Schmidt, Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, and Uber co-founders Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp.[1][2][3]
Services[edit]
Beacon's primary service is freight forwarding; it handles the logistics of shipping goods door-to-door by land, sea and air.[1][5] It currently insures its shipments using AIG.[5]
Beacon also provides supply chain finance to businesses in order to increase their working capital.[1][2][3]
