Beast is an upcoming American thriller film directed by Baltasar Kormákur from a screenplay by Ryan Engle, based on a story by Jaime Primak Sullivan, and starring Idris Elba.

Premise[edit]

A recently widowed husband returns to South Africa, where he first met his wife, on a long-planned trip with their teenage daughters to a game reserve managed by an old family friend and wildlife biologist. Soon, however, a rogue lion begins stalking them.

Production[edit]

In September 2020, it was announced that Idris Elba will star a new Universal Pictures film titled Beast, based on an original idea by Jaime Primak-Sullivan and directed by Baltasar Kormakur.[2] In June 2021, Sharlto Copley, Iyana Halley and Leah Sava Jeffries joined the cast.[3] Filming commenced on June 1, 2021, in South Africa and will continue for ten weeks. Shooting will occur in the rural provinces of Limpopo and Northern Cape as well as in Cape Town.[3]
