Bedourie State School is a public, co-educational primary school, located in Bedourie, Queensland, Australia.[1]
History[edit]
Prior to the excising school building, school lessons operated in the town's Shire Hall, from the 16th of May 1960[2] until the school building was opened in 1967.[3] As of 2002, the school has a main classroom, Computer room, French room, Music room and the Office.[4] The school educated Prep to Year 7, however since 2015 the school only educates Prep to Year 6[5] In 2016, a news article published by ABC news examined the school dream, which was to take the kids out of the "red dirt environment" to see the snow, the article went on to explain how the school was well underway to getting the proper funds.[6] The proper funds were collected due to the school Newsletter explaining the overall layout of the camp and a photograph with the caption "Sand Dunes to Snow 2016."[7][8]
Population[edit]
In 2008, the school had 9 enrolled students (4 girls, 5 boys), by 2021 this number decreased to 5 (3 girls, 2 boys).[5] ACARA's number of 5 students for the 2021 school year refutes the school's newsletter, published in March of 2022, which states that there were 10 returning students from the previous year and 1 new student.[9] As of August 2022, the school's population is 12 (4 male, 8 female).
