Begnagrad was a Slovenian band that performed avant-garde, prog-rock, and jazz music. The band's leader was Bratko Bibič.[1][2][3] The band is best known for its debut album of the same name released in 1982.[4][5]
History
The band was formed in 1975.[6] Its first lineup included Bratko Bibič (accordion), Bogo Pečnikar (clarinet), Igor Muševič (drums), and Vlado Špindler (bass guitar). The band began composing their own songs and recorded material in Ljubljana's Radio Student studio in 1976. They also recorded at Radio Novi Sad studio in December 1977. However, the band broke up in 1978.
After a brief hiatus, Begnagrad reformed in 1981 with a new lineup: Bratko Bibič (accordion), Bogo Pečnikar (clarinet), Nino de Gleria (bass guitar), Aleš Rendla (drums, violin), and Boris Romih (guitar). In 1982, they released their debut album of the same name.[7] The band disbanded again in 1983. In 1990, they released Jodlovska Urška, an album with material recorded in 1977. In 1993, they released Tastare (Theoldwones), also featuring recordings from 1977.
