‘’‘Behzad Khodarahmi’’’ (born 1978) is an Iranian composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist working in Persian classical music and fusion music. He received a music diploma from a music conservatory before earning a bachelor’s degree in music. The tar is his principal instrument, and he also performs professionally on the setar, divan, piano, daf and tombak.
Career
During a career spanning more than two decades, Khodarahmi has collaborated with the music department of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). He has composed and arranged traditional and patriotic works for its ensembles and radio services, including Radio Ava and Iran Seda.
Collaborations
Khodarahmi has worked with singers such as Alireza Eftekhari, Hossein Khajeh Amiri, known as Iraj, and Abdolhossein Mokhtabad, among others. He is the son of clarinettist and music teacher Fazlollah Khodarahmi and regularly collaborates with his brother, Behnam Khodarahmi, on musical projects.
Selected works
His credits include arranging “Bordi Az Yadam”, performed by Alireza Eftekhari, and playing the tar alongside Iranian pianist Saman Ehteshami on the album ‘‘Kohneh-haye Hamisheh Now’’. The instrumental fusion single “Common Sense” is a duet featuring Khodarahmi on setar and his brother Behnam on kamancheh.
