The participation of Belarus in the Bala Turkvision Song Contest first began in Istanbul, Turkey, at the inaugural Bala Turkvision Song Contest in 2015. Belarusian Television and Radio Company (BTRC) have been responsible for the selection process of their participants, since their debut in 2015. Fateh Hüseyin was the first representative for Belarus at the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Usaqlarin Şehri", which finished in eleventh place out of thirteen participating entries, achieving a score of ninety points. As of Bala Turkvision 2015, Belarus have awarded the most points to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Romania. They have received the most points from Azerbaijan, and Georgia. Belarus will be represented by Ruslana at the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2017, with the song "Benim adim güneş", which was originally going to be their entry at the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2016.

Origins of the contest[edit]

Bala Turkvision is an annual song contest. Based on the similar format of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Bala Turkvision focuses primarily on participating Turkic countries and regions. A juror from each nation awards between 1 and 10 points for every entry, except their own. In the Grand Final the jury determines the winner. Unlike the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in which the winning country proceeds to host the following year's event, hosting of the Bala Turkvision Song Contest takes place in the country or region that is also hosting the Turkish Capital of Culture.[1]

Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2017[edit]

On 16 February 2017 it was announced that the Kazakhstan would be hosting the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2017 at the Barys Arena, in Astana, Kazakhstan.[8] The contest venue was changed 2 days later and will now take place at the Saryarka Velodrome.[9] BRTC confirmed on 1 March 2017, that they be sending Ruslana with the song "Benim adim güneş", to represent them at the 2017 edition.[10] Both the artist and song were originally going to be the Belorussian entry at the 2016 edition.[5]
