The participation of Kazakhstan in the Bala Turkvision Song Contest first began in Istanbul, Turkey, at the inaugural Bala Turkvision Song Contest in 2015. Adam Media Group (AMG) have been responsible for the selection process of their participants, since their debut in 2015. Tursynkhan Yerkin was the first representative for Kazakhstan at the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Samğa", which finished in second place out of thirteen participating entries, achieving a score of one-hundred and thirteen points. As of Bala Turkvision 2015, Kazakhstan have awarded the most points to Albania, Găgăuzia, Kyrgyzstan, and Ukraine. They have received the most points from Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Găgăuzia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Turkey, and Ukraine. Kazakhstan will be hosting the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2017 at the Saryarka Velodrome, in Astana.
Origins of the contest[edit]
Bala Turkvision is an annual song contest. Based on the similar format of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Bala Turkvision focuses primarily on participating Turkic countries and regions. A juror from each nation awards between 1 and 10 points for every entry, except their own. In the Grand Final the jury determines the winner. Unlike the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in which the winning country proceeds to host the following year's event, hosting of the Bala Turkvision Song Contest takes place in the country or region that is also hosting the Turkish Capital of Culture.[1]

Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2015[edit]
The Kazakh broadcaster, Adam Media Group (AMG), announced on 29 May 2015 that they would be making their Bala Turkvision debut at the 2015 contest in Istanbul, Turkey on 15 December 2015.[2] Kazakhstan held a national selection for the 2015 contest, a total of sixteen artists were selected to take part in the semi-final on 19 September 2015 of which eight qualified to the final on 20 September 2015.[2] The winner was decided by SMS voting. Songs had to be in the national language Kazakh or Russian and artist had to be aged between eight and thirteen.[3] Tursynkhan Yerkin was the first representative for Kazakhstan in the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Samğa".[4] At the 2015 contest, Kazakhstan finished in second place scoring one-hundred and thirteen points, from the other twelve participating countries.[5]
Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2016[edit]
On 19 April 2016, AMG confirmed that they would continue to compete in the contest,[6] and planned to hold a national selection show on 13 November 2016, in order to choose their second representative.[7] On 8 December 2016, it was announced that both the Turkvision Song Contest 2016 and Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2016 had been delayed until March 2017, marking the first time since either of the inaugural contests, that a postponement had occurred.[8] However, it was later confirmed that both of the 2016 contests had been cancelled due to the December 2016 Istanbul bombings.[9]
Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2017[edit]
On 16 February 2017 it was announced that the Kazakhstan would be hosting the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2017 at the Barys Arena, in Astana, Kazakhstan.[10] The contest venue was changed 2 days later and will now take place at the Saryarka Velodrome.[11]
