Beltalowda
Beltalowda is an interactive fiction video game released in 2025 by José María Molina under his label Molisoft for the 8-bit computer ZX Spectrum 128K. It was programmed with the tool DAAD Ready.[1][2] It is only available in Spanish. Beltalowda means “Belter people”. It was reviewed and featured on the cover of magazine CAAD issue 69.[3]
Development
The game was programmed using the DAAD Ready system, itself based on the DAAD engine by Tim Gilberts. It also uses the ZxDAAD128 interpreter created by Cronomantic. For the graphics, Gemini was used to create sketches, while Claus Jahn’s ZX Paintbrush was employed for loading and editing them.[4][5]
Gameplay
The game consists of exploring a series of locations, conversing with npcs, and solving puzzles in order to progress through the story.[6] It is divided into three chapters across two separate loads. To play the second load, the player must type in a password provided at the end of Chapter II.[7]
