Ben Bela Böhm (born July 22, 1975[1] in Gummersbach, Germany) is a German actor, voice actor and director, most well known for his role as Kai on Better Call Saul.

Early life[edit]

Ben Bela Böhm graduated from the Grotenbach-Gymnasium in Gummersbach. In a student production, he played the lead role in Molière's comedy Tartuffe. As a student, he was part of the ensemble of the Schauspielstudio Oberberg.

Ben Bela Böhm completed his acting training from 1996 to 2000 at the Conservatory of Music and Theatre in Bern. He was then engaged at the Staatstheater Braunschweig until 2003. After an appearance in the series Streit um drei [de], Böhm received a leading role in the series Verschollen.

Career[edit]

From November 2005 to March 2006, Böhm starred as Maximilian Grebe in Sophie - Braut wider Willen.

He then took roles in The Basil Brush Show (2007) and in Morris:A Life With Bells On alongside Naomie Harris, Dominique Pinon, Derek Jacobi and Ian Hart. In 2008, he appeared as a supporting actor in the thriller Illuminati with Tom Hanks and Armin Mueller-Stahl.

From May 1, 2009 to February 24, 2010, he appeared in the ZDF-telenovela Alisa - Folge deinem Herzen as Dr. Paul Hartmann. He took over this role from Andi Slawinski [de].

In the fall of 2010, Ben Bela Böhm was hired for the TV feature film Sonntagskinder [de] based on a novel by Rosamunde Pilcher, where he appeared as musician Andrew (episode lead). In 2013, the film Bela Kiss: Prologue was released in German cinemas, in which he plays the role of Felix.

In 2018 he appeared as Kai, a construction worker and demolition man, in AMC's Better Call Saul. For this role he was nominated for the SAG Awards Best Ensemble for Best Ensemble Drama Series.
