Ben Parkhill
Benjamin Seaver Parkhill (born December 7, 1955 in Los Angeles, California) is a political consultant within the Republican Party. During the George H. W. Bush presidency, he served as a Chief of Staff to Jack Kemp while Kemp was serving as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
While working with the secretary of HUD, he helped Kemp craft his Homeownership and Opportunity for People Everywhere (HOPE) program and numerous other initiatives designed to implement free-market policies to help revitalize poor neighborhoods.
After serving with Kemp, he helped manage several candidates during the 1994 midterm elections, the year of the Republican Revolution, including Congressman John Shadegg (R - Arizona).[1] Parkhill later served as a political consultant on The West Wing (TV series).[2] The minor character George Rohr, played by Peter Mackenzie, was based on Parkhill. Currently, he is the senior adviser to Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour.[3]
