Ben Tavener (born 28 April 1984) is a British bilingual presenter, correspondent and reporter at BBC News Russian. He is best-known for hosting #Londonблог[1].
Early life[edit]
Ben grew up in Whitstable and began learning Russian at high school, before continuing to study the language at the University of Cambridge, during which time he lived in Moscow for a year.
Career[edit]
Ben began working on BBC News Russian radio news programmes in 2007, going on to produce programmes presented by Seva Novgorodsev. In 2011 he moved to Brazil and worked as a freelance journalist.
#Londonблог[edit]
In 2016 he returned to the UK to front a new short-format video project about London, British culture or other UK-related topics for BBC News Russian called #Londonблог (#Londonblog). He is the only non-native Russian-speaker who regularly appears on BBC News Russian output.
