Berik Akhmetov
Berik Bakhytzhanovich Akhmetov (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.; born December 15, 1985) is a Kazakhstani scientist, educator, and university administrator. He currently serves as the Rector of Yessenov University in Aktau, Kazakhstan.[1]
Early life and education
In 2006,Berik Akhmetov graduated from Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi with a degree in Information Systems.[2] In 2009, he completed postgraduate studies at the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi.[3]
In 2010, he defended his dissertation and earned the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences in "Systems Analysis, Management, and Information Processing."[4]
Between 2011 and 2012, he undertook postdoctoral research at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg in Germany.[5] [6]
From 2016 to 2020, Akhmetov pursued an MBA at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in the United States.[5]
Career
From 2006 to 2013, Akhmetov worked at the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, progressing from lecturer to associate professor in the Department of Information Systems.[2] [7]
Between 2013 and 2017, he served as Vice-President for Educational and Methodological Work at the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Khoja Ahmed Yasawi.[8]
Since 2017, he has been the Rector of Yessenov University.[2] [9]
Research activity
Berik Akhmetov is the author of more than 150 scientific publications, including: 48 articles published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus; 3 textbooks; 11 educational manuals; 9 monographs; 8 intellectual property documents (patents). His h-index is 9.[10]
Awards
- 2010–2012 — National Scientific Scholarship for Talented Young Scientists.[2]
- 2021 — Jubilee Medal "30 Years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan".[11]
- 2021 — Badge "Ahmet Baitursynuly".[5]
- 2023 — Badge "For Contribution to the Development of Science" from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.[12][13]
- 2023 — Order "Kurmet".[14][15]
- 2024 — Badge "Ahmet Baitursynuly" (second awarding), Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.[5]
- 2024 — Laureate of the D. A. Kunaev Prize for the best work in the field of natural sciences for young scientists.[16]
