Bernardt James (born 2 June 1981 as Jacobus Bernardus van der Walt) in Evander is a South African pianist based in Johannesburg.
James was born in Evander, and is a South African citizen. He began playing piano at the age of 7 demonstrated exceptional musical ability and chose the piano as his creative medium. With the guidance of his music teacher Marietjie Steyn, he was able to quickly develop his talent and soon began composing his own music.[1]

James continues to work on his original music while performing as a solo pianist and teaching piano. Since 2012 he recorded 7 albums: His latest album "Awakened" was released in July 2021.[2]
