Betriebsraum is a German electronic music Future-Pop project from Düsseldorf, which was formed in 2014 by DJ Wolfgang von der Ehe and music producer Dirk Hartl.

History

Betriebsraum was formed in Düsseldorf / Germany by Wolfgang von der Ehe and Dirk Hartl. The intention was to found a project based on the Düsseldorf electronic music scene of the 70s and 80s. Wolfgang von der Ehe, who is known under the name DJ VDE, a DJ (Subkult-Event) in the alternative and dark scene in Düsseldorf, and the music producer Dirk Hartl played together in the Industrial Band U.L.A.A.. After Dirk Hartl left U.L.A.A., both lost their connection for a while.

In 2014, both decided to form the chillout-electro project Tomados de la Mano, from which Betriebsraum finally emerged. Both are supported by the Düsseldorf artist Tim Blankenstein, who designed all record covers and sang in several songs in both projects Tomados de la Mano and Betriebsraum.

Betriebsraum is part of Musik-Labels Elektrostadt, which concentrates on electronic music coming from Düsseldorf.

In 2019, Betriebsraum released their debut album "Betriebsraum[1]" and in the same year "The Storyteller[2]" followed as an EP.

In 2020, Betriebsraum released the EPs "MRT[3]" and "Virus[4]".

Style

The music is a mix of New Wave, metal music, synthpop, Techno and trance. The lyrics describe the challenges and threats coming from modern IT, artificial intelligence or the creation of a surveillance society as an outcome of new media.
