BCIFF, also known as Beyond The Curve International Film Festival, is a festival which promotes independent films and Indie Filmmakers from around the world. BCIFF is an international film festival based in Paris, France. [1] According to their website, The festival intends to make the language of film universal and more democratic. "The Curve'' represents the barriers and norms that the filmmakers have to experience while making a film. [1] The mission of this festival is to show a different narrative to the world. Works of art which speaks against the status quo and believes showcase their works here. This is a significant platform to voice against the stereotypes, the founders expressed that they are influenced by the French Avant-Grade movement. [2] [3]
BCIFF also has an online publishing called Scénema.[3] This online magazine mainly publishes director's interview, screenplay analysis, and reviews of the submitted films at the request of their respective directors. Some engaging interviews are featured for an extensive knowledge about the films and their specific artforms. This platform is dedicated to all the film enthusiasts who enrich themselves through vigorous reading and discussion. Beyond the Curve International Film Festival was founded in 2019. [5]Though the region was specified, the founder didn't want to restrict the festival within a boundary. Therefore, BCIFF was made to be a global platform, for films around the world to be showcased. [3] With time, BCIFF has become one of highest rated festivals in Film freeway. [2] The broader aspect of the division in the categories brings flexibility and diversity in submissions more.

In July 2019 BCIFF started as a film festival based in Paris. [6] Toronto Film festival, Tribeca Film Festival and several other festivals from different countries worked as an inspiration for Beyond the Curve International Film Festival. According to A.C, The Festival is developing gradually. Their disruptive communication approach, 360° marketing, and their ability to promote the submitters' work, are some of the qualities mentioned by submitters in their review of BCIFF. [7] In an interview, The organizers said that BCIFF is currently collaborating with other film entities to further expand their band. [3]
Awards[edit]
Beyond the Curve International Film Festival appreciates all the out-of-the-box ideas. Therefore, their nominations and winners are different from traditional festivals. Beyond the Curve International Film festival 2021 offers:
- Screening of the winner's film before a live audience in France
- Finding an audience that resonates with the idea of film as an art and a platform from which the winner can get honest and constructive feedback
- The finalists and the winner will get certificates as well as laurels highlighting their achievement
- All selected films will be awarded their official laurel
Some of the previous Winners of Beyond the Curve International Film Festival are -
- Mark Lund’s First Signal became the winner of the best Sci-fi movie in Beyond the Curve International Film Festival.[9]
- Two Hues , a cape town based short film by Weaam Williams won the best short film award in January 2021.[10] [11]
- In June 2021, District Six Rising from the Dust by Weaam Williams won the best documentary film award from Beyond the Curve International Film Festival.[12] [13]
