Bhekisizwe "Bheki" Mahlawe (born 1 March 1990), is a South African actor.[1] He is best known for the roles in the television serials such as Shreds and Dreams and Durban Gen.[2][3][4]
Personal life[edit]
Mahlawe was born on 1 March 1990 in Umzimkhulu township, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. After matriculation in 2009, he entered University of South Africa to study BA in Communication Science, but dropped six months after enrolling. After that, he had a small stint as waiter at the Proteas Hotel in Durban in 2010.[5] He has one older brother and sister.
Career[edit]
After six months life at the university, he went Johannesburg and started acting career with Mnyango wesoku Vakasha in 2010. In 2011, he made a guest role in the serial Soul City. Then in 2013, he played a supportive role of "Daniel" in the soapie eKasi: Our Stories. After that role, he established as a professional actor.[6] In 2014, he joined with the SABC1 serial played the role "Nkanyiso".[5] Apart from that, he made notable appearances in the serials and soapies such as Gold Diggers, Isibaya, Sokhulu & Partners, Isithembiso and Emoyeni in the preceding years. In 2020, he joined with the regular cast of the e.tv. medical telenovela Durban Gen where he played a lead role of "Calvin Gumede".[7][8]
He also worked as the presenter of the program uMama Name and educational show Rivoningo on SABC2.[9][10] Apart from acting, he is a businessman, who owns the clothing brand called "Mzimcool" and event organizing company "Borrowed time Media".[5]
