Big Six[2][3] is the debut studio album by Ghanaian rapper Ball J. It was released on June 6, 2016, by Nu Afrika Records.[4] The album is currently live on 37 online stores; iTunes,[5] Apple Music,[6] Spotify, Shazam, Deezer,[7] iHeartRadio, Amazon Music,[8] Google Play, Groove, eMusic, Simfy Africa, MediaNet, VerveLife, Tidal,[9] Gracenote, 7Digital, Juke, Slaker, Guvera, KKBox, Akazoo, Anghami, Spinlet, Neurotic Media, Yandex, Target Music, ClaroMusica, Zvooq, Saavn, NMusic, 8tracks, Q.Sic, Cur, Amazon on demand and Musicload.

Background[edit]

The album going by its name has six songs in total and features only three Ghanaian artiste; Choirmaster, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy all on one track "Poolside Jam".[10][11]

Recording[edit]

The album was recorded between 2015 and 2016, with recording for the track 5 "Poolside Jam" starting in 2010 which features Choirmaster, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy.[12] Reports stated that the album was written and recorded within a month, mastering, mixing and finalizing it took six months in total. Recording sessions took place at the Nu Afrika Records studio in Accra-Ghana. The album's production was all handled by Ball J himself.

Singles[edit]

On April 15, 2016, Ball J released the track, "Okumoo" as a standalone single. Ball J made it clear on Akwantufuo Radio in UK that the song Okumoo will not be on the Big Six album. According to Ball J, Okumoo is an afrobeat song he made for his local Ghanaian people to dance to.

Title And Cover[edit]

The album's title was announced on April 15, 2016 by Ball J via his Twitter account.[13] The cover artwork was also released via Ball J's Twitter account on May 9, 2016 with the caption "I have patiently been waiting for my turn like the hour6lass. #BigSix".[14] The album's cover features two gold horns joined together to create the number 6 on a black puzzled background.[15] The album cover was designed by Enoch Bleboo (EAE).
