Bilal Shahid (Bengali: বিলাল শহীদ; born 7 September 1993), better known simply as Bilal or Zaide, is a singer and rapper of British Bangladeshi descent. His family is of Sylheti origin.

Career[edit]

Shahid was born in London, and moved to Northampton with his Bishwanathi parents at the age of 12 and started writing songs and putting them online. His initial success came with "I Wanna Be" that was on rotation on BBC Radio Northampton.[1]

In March 2010, Shahid released "Belong to Me" his debut single that features Yemi Pade. It was broadcast on ethnic stations, including BBC Asian Network. A music video was shot for the song. He has collaborated with artists such as EyeC, Fab, Yemi Pade, Mat-E-Rich, Irfan Chaudhry[2] and producers like Spookzville and WZDM. In April 2011, his second single "Can't Live Alone" was released, which was written by himself and included a combination of rapping and singing.[3]

In December 2011, his EP About Us: The Ultimate Love Story was released, featuring artists EyeC and Fab.[3][4]

On 15 April 2012, his third single "Scream Out Loud" was released,[5] featuring MC/Rapper Raxstar. The song was produced by Quantize Music and written by Shahid himself with Raxstar's verse being written by Raxstar.

On 14 September 2013, Shahid's music video Winner featuring Sparkaman was released.

Shahid is currently under the same management as Raxstar who are both managed by Khalid Khan who is based in London.

In 2014 and 2015, Shahid featured in three episodes of comedy web series Corner Shop Show.

Personal life[edit]

In 2015, Shahid graduated from the University of Westminster with a higher second class honours in Economics.[citation needed]

Since 2017, Bilal married Mima and the two are part of a Couple Vlogging channel.
