Bilal Bagis (born 26 January 1984) is a Turkish economist, instructor, strategist and consultant.
He was born on January 26th 1984, in Bingöl, in the eastern part of Turkey, and grew up (in the order of years) in Bingöl, Diyarbakır and most recently in Istanbul. He, later on, moved to California to pursue a PhD degree.
Bagis graduated from the Istanbul Technical University in 2006. He had his masters degree from Sabanci University and obtained his PhD in the United States from the University of California.
Dr. Bagis have had experiences as an academic, economist, strategist and consultant at various universities and companies in Turkey and the USA. He has worked at prominent universities including University of California Berkeley, Istanbul Medipol University and Sabanci University.
He focuses on Turkey’s macro and financial instability, business cycles, recessions and financial crisis; and the efficacy of policies at the discretion of policymakers. His research interests lie in international finance, macroeconomics, economic policy analysis, public policies and political economy.
