Bill Angus

Bill Angus (born 8 November 1964) is a literary scholar who specialises in William Shakespeare and English Renaissance drama.

Academic life[edit]

Born in Middlesbrough, Angus took a BA (Hons) in English at University of Teesside and MA and PhD in Shakespeare and early modern drama at Newcastle University. He has taught at University of Buckingham, University of Worcester, University of Birmingham, Canterbury Christ Church University, Keele University, University of Hertfordshire, University of Hull, Northumbria University, University of Teesside, Leeds Trinity University College, and Newcastle University. He now lectures at Massey University in New Zealand.[1]

Research[edit]

His research is mainly in Shakespeare and the early modern period. His first two books focus on metadrama, informers, and structures of surveillance. He is currently exploring representations of the crossroads as a place of transformative power and spiritual binding in early modern and other cultures.[2]
