William “Bill” Blocker (born October 21, 1960) is an American religious leader and educator. He is the president of the College of Biblical Studies in Houston, Texas.[1][2] Blocker is also the author of Word to the Wise: A Daily Devotional and hosts a radio show with the same name that focuses on Christian education.

Early life and education

Blocker was born on October 21, 1960, in Dothan, Alabama. He received his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Chicago Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary.[3]

Career

Blocker started his career in 2002 at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where he worked as vice president and dean of educational services until 2012. While at the institute, he established the Moody Distance Learning Center and oversaw accreditation and educational technology services.[3]

Additionally, Blocker was the senior pastor of Christian Fellowship Church on the south side of Chicago from 2002 until 2012.

In 2012, he was appointed president of the College of Biblical Studies (CBS) in Houston, Texas.[1][2] Under his leadership, the College became one of a few colleges nationally to be accredited by both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and the Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE).[3]

Blocker worked as chief information officer at TMI Consulting in Chicago and Robinson & Cole Law Firm in Hartford, CT. Additionally, Blocker served as a consultant to churches in leadership development and conflict resolution.[2]He is a board chair of the Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). He is an evaluator for other colleges and universities for SACSCOC.[1]

Blocker also offers mentorship to students, often interacting with student leaders and providing advice and support as they manage their academic and personal growth.[2][3]
