Bill Delahanty (American Baseball Player)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Bill Delahanty, (also known as Willie) was a brother of major leaguers Ed, Tom, Frank, Jim and Joe but Bill Delahanty never made it to the majors.

Early Life and career[edit]

[1]Bill was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 28, 1886 which makes him the youngest out of the brothers. Bill, like his brothers fell in love with the game of baseball. Bill would play semi pro ball until gaining attention from scouts. Being related to his big brother Ed probably helped – Ed was one of the best players in the 1890s and has since been inducted to the hall of fame. Bill would make his pro ball debut in 1904. He would continue to play until 1911 until an "alleged" eye injury ended his career. Bill's daughter later denied that claim, saying that "She had no recollection of her father having a bad eye".[2] Bill Delahanty died on October 16, 1957, in Cleveland Ohio. He is laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland Ohio.
