Birda is a British-built mobile application for the global birdwatching community. Birda is used by birdwatchers to find birdwatching locations, identify and record the bird species they see, organise the sightings into a variety of time and location-based life lists and then share these bird sightings within the niche community.[4][5][6] The service was founded in 2017 by John White and Natalie White and is based in London, England. [7][8][9][10]

    Overview[edit]

Birda records a user's birdwatching activities in the form of one-off Sightings[11][12], or as a Session[13][14], where multiple sightings are recorded as part of a birdwatching session. Sightings and Sessions can then be shared with the user's followers or shared publicly.

    Privacy[edit]

Birda provides users with a variety of privacy settings to control who can see their profile, their posts and the location of their sightings. Birda also provides users with functionality to hide the location all posts located within the users garden to protect users home location from being made public.[15][16]
