Blackjack treasure is a multiplayer role-playing game based on playing the casino game of Blackjack. It is completely free and hosted on the Blackjack community site Blackjack.com. It is a flash based game and so instant to start and will run on any operating system including Windows, Apple OSX and Linux with the only requirement to have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed in the browser.
GamePlay[edit]
New players register with email address and password for subsequent logins and a nickname for display in the game. Although not compulsory, it is also possible to create a personalised avatar. Players start with a relatively small amount of gold (Blackjack Treasure's currency) in their account and are presented with the lobby of Blackjack tables. They then choose a dealer (or slot machine) from those that are already unlocked.
The table opens in a separate popup (so popups need to be enabled for the site) and it is then possible to place wagers in gold, play hands of blackjack, chat to the other players and participate in all the activities in the game.
During play, virtual items will drop which can be stored in the player inventory, consumed, equipped or worn for different effects on the four game stats. Progression is measured by levelling up which results in more stat points which the player can allocate according to what effect he wants to achieve. Also, as the player progresses through the game, higher level tables are unlocked and more and more items become available.
History[edit]
Development on the game started in 2007 and it has been constantly evolving since then. From a very basic multiplayer blackjack emulation, all the different aspects of the game have been added in the relatively frequent updates. Originally designed as a play for fun or play for real site, the game received a Gambling Online Magazine award for Best Blackjack Site in 2008.[1]
Setting[edit]
The game is set in a fictional casino with about 40 fictional blackjack dealers, all of whom have their own avatar. There are also some interesting slots for those who want a break from blackjack.
Avatars[edit]
The avatars are sophisticated with gender, multiple ethnicity, skin tones, hair color and many other variables.
Avatars start with a default set of clothing, but during the course of the game, different items of clothing, jewelry, hats and other items become available.
Players can also buy clothing and accessories in the shops (see below)
Items[edit]
Items drop randomly during the game in response to triggers such as winning a hand with blackjack for instance. There are too many items to list but there is a directory of items on the site which give all the details including what effects the items have on the game stats.
Items can be consumed, worn, equipped, bought, sold and sent and received from and to other players.
Shops[edit]
There are a number of shops with all sorts of items which are useful in the game for sale for gold.
Jobs[edit]
If players run out of money they can do virtual jobs to earn gold. Each job pays a fixed amount and takes a certain amount of time. There is also a cooldown period so the job cannot be repeated within the specified time.
Progression through the game gives access to additional jobs with higher and higher gold rewards.
Communication[edit]
Players can chat at the tables and there is a private message system which allows the sending or receiving of items.
Leaderboards and Statistics[edit]
Each session played is scored and players can look at the last fifty sessions they have played with the statistics on the session.
The best scores (the best sessions) are entered into the alltime, monthly, weekly and daily leaderboards.
