History[edit]

The website for bladerunnerradio.com first came online in 1997 [3] In the early days the website operated as just a local rock and events site with no streaming service.

Bladerunner Radio streaming radio officially signed on the air in the early morning hours of July 4, 2013. The station name is from the on air personality "Bladerunner" who started with the name at WKLS Atlanta, then known as 96 Rock. The Bladerunner coined the taglines for the radio station, "It's All About The Rock""™ and "Official Rock Station of Planet Earth!""™.

January 2007 The Bladerunner's contract had expired and was not renewed with KATT in Oklahoma City.[4] The Daily Oklahoman had run an article about fellow broadcaster Ferris O'Brien, and his revival of "The Spy", on the Internet. Bladerunner admired O'Briens spirit and drive, and lifelong dedication to "The Spy" format. Ferris and Bladerunner had worked together in early 2004 reviving "The Spy" with then Citadel Radio. This inspiration started a three year comeback into the world of radio by building a popular online radio station.

With a unique format and using the Internet as a platform instead of traditional radio, Bladerunner Radio has gained a world wide following. In 2014 the station adoped the phrase "The Official Rock Station of Planet Earth"™.
