Blaxploitation is a genre of music that evolved in the early 1970s, with elements of funk and soul music, often used as the soundtrack to Blaxploitation films, from which it derives its name.

Blaxploitation originated in the early 1970s, with the Blaxploitation film genre. [1] The soundtracks to these films included elements of funk and soul, such as Shaft (1971) by Isaac Hayes,[2] or Superfly (1972) by Curtis Mayfield. [3]
