Bledlow Boys Home.

During the early 1950s, two of my brothers and I were placed in this county children's home in/near High Wickham, Buckinghamshire. I am hoping that by posting this short article it will be read by a fellow inmate. As the youngest boy of the three, I, being too young, did not attend school, though I do recall my brothers leaving for school. I assume that I was the youngest child in the home during our time there, as my memories are mainly of being in the kitchen with one or two ladies…
My most endearing memory is of an Easter costume party. Why a costume party? I have no idea, though I vividly recall being dressed as a Penguin….
My reason for writing this short item is that this will resonate, maybe, if I am very lucky, a reader may have similar memories of this place. A sanctuary of safety for children whose parents were struggling to get by during those pre-family benefit days, who may be able to fill the gaps in my memory….
