Early life background[edit]

Blessing Mashangwa was born in the eastern part of Zimbabwe, in the remote rural area of Chigodogora village. Mrs. Blessing Mashangwa holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Business Administration from Thames University which she obtained through Milpark Business School in South Africa.

Career Background[edit]

Her Journey in business started at the age of 22. At that time She was the first woman to be given sole distributorship of Avon Cosmetics in Zimbabwe when Avon was officially launched at Meikles hotel in February 2002. From the experience she had gained from Avon, she decided to start her own brand. Oceane Cosmetics was birthed in 2005 under the Women Arise Network (WAN)[6].

Women Empowerment notable role[edit]

During the time Oceane was launched, there were several other companies that were distributing cosmetics in Zimbabwe and all these companies required capital to stock products. She understood the economic challenges that many of the Zimbabwean women were facing and capital was a huge barrier to their success. Mrs Blessing Mashangwa then became the first in Zimbabwe to advance her products without capital to those who could produce proof of residence and copy of I.D Identity papers. 33 women responded and became the first Oceane distributors, within six months the number of agents had gone up to 150 distributors. At the moment, over 4000 agents are a part of the Oceane network and are distributing them all over the country. Oceane cosmetics then spread into Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana and South Africa. Oceane Holdings was awarded numerous awards in 2017 alone including an award From CSR Zimbabwe were the company was recognised for making reasonable change within the country of Zimbabwe.[7][8][9][10]
