Block N Load is a sandbox building and Tactical FPS game, developed by Jagex for the PC.

Gameplay[edit]

Block N Load is a 5 vs 5 team-based first-person shooter similar in style to a fusion of Minecraft and Team Fortress 2. [1]

Players choose between various different heroes with their own unique skills and inventory load out to face off across multiple maps in a tactical battle where everything you build, destroy, construct or shoot has devastating impact on the entire game.

Each team of five players gets several minutes at the start to build defences around (and under) their base, which houses a Generator Cube that must be protected. Your options here depend on the character and block loadout chosen. You can select five different blocks, each with different properties, plus another block which is bespoke to your character class. [2]

The inclusion of sandbox construction elements enables players to construct defensive structures or dig trenches, among other options, to achieve the goals of the game mode.

Key Features

  • No Game the Same: The game world is ever-changing and evolving throughout every match, as players creatively build and tunnel their way to enemy positions and onto victory.
  • Unhinged Heroes: Character variety offers a robust mix of roles for full combat, defensive and supportive players in a team.
  • Build Phase: Experiment and take the time to work on your defences, traps and setups before the team attacks truly begin.
  • Masters of Construction: Creative use of a wide choice of blocks in-game mean your deadly and devious constructions can cause havoc with the enemy – and the map.
  • Blocks: Big bombs, turrets, bounce pads, poison traps, landmines, forcefields, speed pads, mortars, glue blocks, health blocks, ammo blocks and more.
  • Ranked Play: Play for global accolades within the tiered Ranked Play system.
  • Custom Game Mode: Set up your own game on the servers to choose your favourite map and build time.

There are two teams. Players can choose between 6 heroes:

Sarge Stone, with his rapid fire machine gun and rocket launcher.

Juan Shinobi, slicing the opposition with his katana and ninja stars

Nigel Purdy-Longshott, the big game hunter with his long range high powered rifle.

Tony Turretto, close quarters shotgun and repair tools for blocks and turrets

Cogwheel, rapid fire rotary cannon and mortar volleys

Doc Eliza Doolally, with corrosive acid and AoE gas clouds of death

Each character has an inventory of different block types they can place, from bounce pads, respawn points, turrets, bombs sandbags and more.
