Blood Rain is the ninth solo EP by American rapper and record producer A-F-R-O.[1] It was released on May 22, 2026[2] by FRO Thizzle Productions. The EP features a guest appearance from 4-IZE.

Background

In 2021, A-F-R-O recorded the title track, and kept it on the shelf. After releasing a handful of projects, he went back into the archives, and re-recorded nearly every song on the Blood Rain tracklist, except "No Talk," a newer song created for the EP.

"Saints Row" and "Antagonist" were intended to be on his 6th EP, Crimson Fury, but were cut due to runtime.

A-F-R-O describes Blood Rain as his "darkest work, yet. Experimental, but still boom bap."[3]

Critical reception

Blood Rain was met with favorable reviews.

Underground Hip Hop Blog says, "Blood Rain will suffice for those who are ok with going on a quick 20 minute journey through his mind. Compared to a great deal of his earlier output, the boom bap production’s more experimentally darker, even if I felt like the self-produced half of it was stronger, and he sounds significantly angrier."[4]

Insomniac Magazine says, "A-F-R-O blows away all competitors on the 8 track action heater “Blood Rain!!!”[5]

Trackblasters Entertainment says, "A-F-R-O keeps the pressure high on Blood Rain, a new eight-track EP built for sharp turns, heavy drums and the kind of breath-control workouts that have been his calling card since the Definition Of A Rap Flow days. The project keeps things tight, with A-F-R-O handling part of the production himself while also bringing in alcapella667, obnoxiousbeats, Scratch Television and Bouklas Beatsapes behind the boards. 4-IZE is the lone listed guest, appearing on “Highway Robbery,” giving the EP one outside voice without pulling the focus away from A-F-R-O’s own rapid-fire presence. Across Blood Rain, the setup feels direct: no bloated rollout, no over-explained concept, just a compact batch of bars-first rap from an emcee who still treats technique like a contact sport."[6]
