- Božan Šimović ** (Zvirovići, Čapljina, 7th July 1959 - 8th november 1992) He was first commander of the Special Purpose Unit "Ludvig Pavlović". He was killed on 8th November 1992, leading his soldiers through Hodovo village in a battle against the Serbian-Montenegrin aggressor forces, running into a mine during Operation Bura. On his head, the JNA issued a prize of 1000 marks. Known for his courage and skill at the frontline, he inspired his comrades and after his tragic death, became a legend and a symbol of the struggle and sacrifice for freedom of the Croatian people and set an example which inspired his nation to continue the fight for their homeland and avenge the fallen.
Božan was also known for writting poetry and songs that often talked about his faith and love for his homeland.
