Boataround is a web service that facilitates yacht charters and boat rentals. The platform allows customers to rent sailboats as well as motorboats. The company focuses on Europe as its primary region.[1][2]

History[edit]

Boataround was founded on March 5, 2016, by Pavel Přibiš and Jana Escher. The founders were inspired by their former employer, Booking.com, to create a platform that simplified boat rentals online.[3]

Growth[edit]

Since its inception, Boataround has experienced significant growth, with an annual growth rate of 100-150%. As of 2021, the platform has facilitated over 60,000 bookings from 120,000 customers across 72 countries. The Covid-19 pandemic contributed to a significant increase in profits, with a growth of about 630% compared to 2019.[4][5][6][7]

Services[edit]

Boataround offers a wide range of boat rental options, including houseboats, motorboats, sailboats, and yachts. Rentals are available from private individuals, local providers, and large charter companies. The platform currently lists over 23,000 charter and private options across five continents, with approximately 1,600 rental locations worldwide.[8]

Operations[edit]

Boataround is headquartered in Bratislava, Slovakia, and has offices in Berlin, Barcelona, Athens, and Split. The company employs more than 70 people and operates in 28 languages.[9]

Financing[edit]

Boataround is a privately-held company, backed by venture capital investors such as Miton. The Czech investment firm has invested over half a million euros in the company.[10]
