Boataround was founded on March 5, 2016, by Pavel Přibiš and Jana Escher. The founders were inspired by their former employer, Booking.com, to create a platform that simplified boat rentals online.[3]

As of 2021, the platform has facilitated over 60,000 bookings from 120,000 customers across 72 countries.
