Bob Cooney is an American entrepreneur and writer best known for his work in electronic gaming and location-based virtual reality.[1][2][3]

Cooney launched the world’s first laser tag company, Laser Storm, in 1990, exiting with an IPO in 1996[4] after being named an Inc. 500 CEO. He, then, held early-stage senior positions with organizations including Global VR, the first virtual reality arcade game manufacturer, Ecast,[5][6] the first online broadband jukebox company, and NTN Buzztime,[7] a networked trivia company for bars and restaurants, where he held the role of COO. Cooney has mentored some of the top location-based technology manufacturers and operators including Zero Latency,[8][9] Hologate, and PayRange.[10]
Cooney is the author of the book Real Money from Virtual Reality, which was listed as one of the Best Virtual Reality Books of All Time by the website BookAuthority.com.[11] He speaks about virtual reality and other technology-based topics worldwide[12][13][14][15] and administers the VR Bobble Awards.[16][17]
Cooney is also a contributor to The Inertia[18] as well as a contributor and Technology Editor of RePlay Magazine.[19][20]
