Bob Garcia (born August 6, 1950) is currently serving as Mayor of DeBary, Florida.
Early life[edit]
Garcia was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, on August 6, 1950. He joined the United States Army after graduating from Tappan Zee High School. He was forced to retire from the US Army due to a service-connected disability.
Political career[edit]
In 2009, Garcia ran to become the mayor of the City of DeBary. He won in the general election defeating the incumbent mayor George Coleman. He served from January 2009 until July 2014, when he resigned from office to run as a Democratic candidate for the Florida House seat occupied by the Republican incumbent from Deltona David Santiago. He was defeated by Santiago in the general election. In 2016, Garcia won in the special election to replace incumbent mayor Clint P. Johnson. He ran against two opponents (Robert Knott and David Walstrom) in the general election.[1][2]
