Early life[edit]
Johnson was born in Sanford, Florida on September 24, 1985. He he is a Florida native in the Sunshine State and is eclectic lifelong Entrepreneur who currently owns several businesses including Screen Force (pool & window screen repair company) and Eastwood Marketing (full service advertising agency).
Political career[edit]
In 2014, Johnson ran to become the mayor of the City of DeBary after hearing that Bob Garcia was stepped down as mayor early to run as a Democratic candidate for the Florida House seat currently held by Republican David Santiago of Deltona. He won in the general election defeating Danny Tillis by a large majority vote making him the first youngest elected official in the city’s history serving from January 1, 2015 until January 24, 2017. Johnson made an announcement on YouTube that he will not participate in the special election to replace him after the City Council voted for his removal. He is instead calling for a boycott. He was removed as DeBary mayor earlier this year, won't be among the participants in the Jan. 17 special election. Instead, DeBary voters had to choice between another former mayor, Bob Garcia, and residents David Walstrom and Robert Knott. Johnson posted a YouTube video a few hours earlier, asking voters to boycott the special election. The City Council removed Johnson in August after finding he violated portions of the city charter, a move Johnson said disenfranchised thousands of residents who voted for him in 2014. He is suing currently the City Council, which, in turn, has voted to take him to court over a records dispute. "A city this broken needs judicial intervention," Johnson said in the video. "I will not participate in that special election. This is my term as mayor. I have already been duly elected to it. There is no reason for me to run for it again. Running would effectively endorse the council's illegal actions. I call on everyone to boycott this election in the name of democracy."Johnson said he expects the courts to return him to his post as mayor, and threatened to bring the case to federal court if he doesn't succeed at the circuit court level. former mayor Bob Garcia won reelection defeating his other opponents this year of 2017.
