Bobby Leigh
Bobby Leigh[1] is a British-American producer, musician, music manager and published journalist.[2] He began appearing in film and television in the early 2000s. As an actor[1] Leigh first appeared on the television show That Was Then for Touchstone Television and also on the Sony Pictures Television sitcom, The Mayor starring Larry Miller.
Early life
Bobby Leigh was born on July 14, 1966 in the small town of Fairview, New Mexico,[3] between Los Alamos[4] and Santa Fe.[5] A farming community.
Robert was the fifth child of Arthur Gordon Bailey III, who was married to Margaret Ronne' Bailey. Bobby’s father was a child prodigy, genius, and had completed high school by age 15 and finished college by age 18. Arthur Gordon Bailey III obtained his PhD by the age of 22 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada at Mount St Marys College. By the young age of 21 years old, Arthur Gordon Bailey was a professor at New York State in the University Nuclear Physics[6] department, where he met young 16 year old Margaret Anne Ronne'. The new couple soon married and began to grow their family.
Leigh’s father was recruited to work for the United States Government because of nuclear physics.[7] After recruitment, he was assigned work at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory,[4] the same facility that created the Atomic Bomb, then a top-secret military base.
Bailey's family was frequently relocated to be between different locations depending on the government’s needs. Often back to Great Britain but mostly between Los Alamos,[4] White Sands, New Mexico and Las Vegas (the "Nevada National Security Site") wherever he was needed.
Bobby's brother, John Stewart Bailey, was born in Las Vegas at Sunrise Hospital on February 9, 1965. Leigh's father's job, location, assignment and secrecy was determined by the United States government.
At 16 years old, Leigh left home and hitchhiked to the nearest big city and spent his weeks at the local music store busking with his guitar outside of stores and restaurants for dimes and nickels. After a few months, while playing guitar on the sidewalk in front of a local music store, a top 40 touring band came in and inquired if anyone knew of any sound engineers, because the band’s current sound engineer was about to be abruptly relieved of his position. Leigh was hired immediately. He toured and traveled with the band throughout the Midwest and the southern section of America for over five years.
Music Career
In California in 1983, Quiet Riot released their breakthrough album Metal Health, which is known for being the first heavy metal album to top the Billboard album chart. Leigh was assigned to operate sound and produce their live concert events. He traveled and toured the world consistently throughout the 1980’s. On August 12 and 13, 1989, Leigh was doing the live sound for the musical band, Skid Row, who also appeared at the Moscow Music Peace Festival. This would be the very first rock and roll concert in the history of the Soviet Union.
In the same year, 1989, Leigh was hired as the Tour manager and Audio engineer for Orange County punk rock band, Social Distortion[8]. Including his work as Producer on the album Social Distortion Live at the Roxy. This relationship marked the beginning of an 11 year professional collaboration that not only existed on the road but in the band’s personal lives as well.
Personal life
Leigh was married to Judy Anne Webster-Bailey for fourteen years and has two children, Emma Nicole Bailey-Kee and Ava Leigh Bailey.
Bobby lists his religion as Jainism, Hinduism, and Buddhism and believes in meditation, karma and that all things in life are possible if you have a positive attitude and treat all beings with love and respect.
