From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Lance Luce (born 1960) is a theatre organist in Detroit and the stadium organist for the National Hockey League's Detroit Red Wings.

Biography[edit]

Early life[edit]

Luce grew up in the Detroit metropolitan area and started with piano lessons at the Grinnell Brothers Music House.[1] At the age of 10, Luce began instruction on the organ and learned to play theatre organ at the Royal Oak Theatre in Royal Oak, Michigan, beginning his performing career as a teenager by playing "The Star-Spangled Banner" during shows. From here, the high-school aged Luce became a regular organist at Skate World, a local roller skating venue, and in 1978 was hired as head organist at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Luce has since performed at various organ pizza parlors in Michigan and Toronto, at concerts worldwide, and at several churches.

Detroit Red Wings organist[edit]

When the NHL's Detroit Red Wings organization moved from Joe Louis Arena to Little Caesars Arena prior to the 2017 season, the team added an organ to the new building after years without an organ at Joe Louis Arena and soon hired Luce as its primary organist to perform on a custom-built instrument designed by the Allen Organ Company.[2] Luce is a member of the American Theatre Organ Society, on staff at the Fox Theatre (Detroit) and is an organ consultant for Evola Music, having contributed to the design and installation of more than 200 organs.[3]
