Bolt is a privately held technology company that provides the world’s first checkout experience platform for online retailers.[2][3] The company was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in San Francisco, California.[4]

History[edit]

Bolt was co-founded in 2014 by Ryan Breslow while he attended Stanford University.[5]

Bolt's checkout was developed to integrate with popular ecommerce providers BigCommerce,[6] WooCommerce, Magento, and Salesforce Commerce Cloud.[7]

In January of 2019, Bolt reported handling an annualized payment volume of more than $1 billion.[8]

Investment[edit]

The company’s early investors include: Naval Ravikant, Jake Seid, Trevor Traina, Tom Proulx, Stanford’s StartX Fund, Founders Fund, Human Capital, ZhenFund, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Streamlined Ventures, and Floodgate. In July 2019, Bolt announced the closure of a $68 million Series B funding round co-led by Activant Capital and Tribe Capital, bringing their total funding amount to approximately $90 million.[9]
