Cast AI (founded in 2020) is an Application Performance Automation platform that uses AI agents to automate resource allocation, workload scaling, and cost management for Kubernetes workloads deployed on cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
History
Cast AI was established in 2020 by Yuri Frayman, Leon Kuperman, and Laurent Gil, who had previously co-founded Zenedge, a cybersecurity firm acquired by Oracle in 2018.[1]
In 2023, Cast AI completed a Series B funding round of US$35 million led by Vintage Investment Partners, with participation from Creandum and Uncorrelated Ventures.[2][3]
In April 2025, the company raised US$108 million in Series C funding, led by G2 Venture Partners and SoftBank Vision Fund 2, with participation from Aglaé Ventures, Hedosophia, Cota Capital, and others.[4][5]
Technology and integrations
Cast AI’s platform uses AI agents to automate the management of Kubernetes clusters on cloud infrastructure.[1] Its main functions include real-time workload scaling, automated rightsizing, bin packing, container live migration, and the allocation of cost-efficient instances such as spot and pre-emptible resources.[6] The system adjusts compute resources in response to changing workloads to boost application stability and reduce cloud costs.[7][8]
The platform operates through autonomous AI agents installed within the customer environment. This setup allows for automated optimization while maintaining compatibility with internal security and governance policies.[1] Independent case studies have reported reductions in cloud spending ranging from 30% to 70%, depending on the platform's implementation.[9][10][11]
Cast AI integrates with a range of third-party cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, IBM Cloud, AliCloud, Rancher, and Kubernetes.[12][13] It is also compatible with on-premises platforms including Red Hat OpenShift.[14] It also supports Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform[15], Helm, and Pulumi.[16][17]
Reuters reported the company had ~2,100 customers as of April 2025, including Akamai, BMW, FICO and Hugging Face.[4]
