Boondoggles, Bonanzas, and Other Alberta Stories, originally published by Fifth House under ISBN 1-894004-94-9 Search this book on ., is a book of 33 historical vignettes written by Irish-Canadian author Brian Brennan.[1][2][3] It covers such well-known stories as the 1903 Frank Slide and the 1947 discovery of oil near Leduc[4] to lesser-known events such as the Rainmaker of Medicine Hat and the Lonely Bachelors of "Dinosaur Valley."

Other stories included in the book document the successful bid of Ralph Klein to become mayor of Calgary in 1980, the Edmonton tornado of 1987, the construction of the Calgary Tower in 1968, and the 1984 light plane crash that killed provincial NDP leader Grant Notley, the father of Premier Rachel Notley.

The book spent 13 weeks on the Calgary Herald bestsellers list, rising to number one on the fourth week.[5]
