Bounce off the Atmosphere /baʊnsɑːfðiˈætməˌsfɪr/ is an American alternative rock/indie rock band from St. Louis, Missouri.[1] They were formed in 2018 by Will Cathell (formerly of The Disrupts). Alex Musick joined Bounce off the Atmosphere shortly after for Keyboard parts for their second album, "For when the World Ends".
Labels[edit]
Sad Boi Records[edit]
Sad Boi Records was an independent label set up by Cathell on which he released the first two Bounce off the Atmosphere albums. As far as today, Bounce off the Atmosphere is the only band on Sad Boi Records.
Punkpiraten[edit]
As of 2019, Bounce off the Atmosphere are on the Punkpiraten Label - another independent label under the Punkpiraten project. This was set up in 2018 by Bounce off the Atmosphere's band manager, Milo (aka. awesome sauce boi - a name given by Will Cathell). Punkpiraten got their name from the Betontod song. Although Punkpiraten was set up for Deutschpunk bands, Milo was very keen to promote Bounce off the Atmosphere.[2]
Music style and influences[edit]
The band's sound is very different to other bands of their genre, also incorporating elements of punk rock and synth-pop. Their lyrics range from comical themes to topics personal to the band. The band cites its influences as Against Me!, Laura Jane Grace, Bruce Springsteen, Meat Loaf, Queen (band), Bowling for Soup, Mötley Crüe, David Bowie, The Interrupters (band) and many more!
