Boutir is an e-commerce company headquartered in Hong Kong, that develops mobile app for launching online store:.[1]. Boutir is currently available for both Apple and Android devices.
History[edit]
Boutir was initiated at AngelHack Hong Kong Fall 2013[2]. During this AngelHack hackathon, the team of Boutir won the Grand Prize of the event[3]. The development of Boutir was limited after the hackathon until the second half of 2015[4].
In June 2015, Boutir has become more active by having joined Asia Smartphone Apps Contest, CoCoon Pitch[5] and EYE Program organized by Google[6]. In late 2015, Boutir released its sister product Boutir Collect, which is an app focusing on social commerce and mobile commerce[7], customers can purchase items from sellers using Boutir to list their products[8].
In January 2016, Boutir and its sister app Boutir Collect launched a digital map and a virtual guide for Chinese New Year flower market in Hong Kong.[9] The campaign received a wide range of recognition that got reported by different local media. Sing Tao described that Boutir provides an easy and convenient way for anyone to sell and supplement the e-commerce needs on selling on social media[10] and Boutir acquired more than 4000 users within the first month of its launch[11]. Sina reported that Boutir and Boutir Collect was the first social commerce mobile app in Hong Kong[12]. Xinhua stated that Boutir can provide extra sales channels and convenience for small-sized businesses. South China Morning Post reported Boutir Collect as an app that "serves as a virtual guide to all the goodies on offer from various stalls along with the option to shop directly through the app"[13]. Apple Daily cited the comment from a user using Boutir as an app that brings convenience to sellers who use mobile instead of desktop to mange their business[14]
