Bovine Nightmares is an American alternative metal band formed in Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA in 2019.

Biography[edit]

Bovine Nightmares formed in 2019 with Erikk the Broken (vocals/guitars), Steampunk Munky (bass), and The Mighty Tavros (drums).[1]

In 2020, Bovine Nightmares released 3 EPs through ABE Recordings as a collection called Nightmares in the Valley. They are named Volume I Hell Comes to Hecktown, Volume II Heck Comes to Hellertown, and Volume III Bedlam Comes to Bethlehem.[2] That same year, Bovine Nightmares released a number of music videos for songs across all three EPs beginning with their first single, "Giving Little Robots to Children".[3] On November 17, 2020, Bovine Nightmares was featured on Spectre Sound Studio's "Oldies But Baddies 90's Edition" Music Video Contest with their cover of Seal (musician)'s Kiss from a Rose. Host Glenn Fricker and guest host Rudy Ayoub compared the video and the band to Nightmare Before Christmas and Sopor Aeternus.[4]

In 2021, Black Donut Records announced a Samhain (band) Tribute Album to be released on July 9, 2021.[5] which will feature Bovine Nightmares, Atomic Kavemen, Marron Chaplin, Demonscar, Night Goat, and others.[6] Bovine Nightmares announced they are working on a self-titled album to be released in 2021.[7]

Musical Style[edit]

Bovine Nightmares has an experimental metal sound with elements of alternative metal and avant garde metal. Their music has been said to be for fans of The Melvins, Faith No More, and Tom Waits[8] and has been compared to Alice Cooper, Lordi, Blind Guardian, Candlemass, Suicidal Tendencies[9]
